Each year, one alumnus or alumnae from CMU's RPL Department is granted this award in honor of their dedication and service to the profession and the department.

Criteria for Distinguished Alumni Award:

A. Continual Professional Advancement
The candidate should demonstrate continual advancement through a series of positions which involved more administrative and/or technical responsibilities. The candidate should demonstrate efforts to increase professional knowledge.

B. Service to the Recreation Profession
The candidate must demonstrate a record of service to the profession. This can be achieved through participation in various positions within the state and national organizations. Service can also be demonstrated through community action groups, lobbying for legislative action, public speaking, and other activities which assist the profession.

C. Service to the Department's Alumni Relations Efforts
The candidate should demonstrate a record of support for alumni relations. This may be achieved through such activities as fieldwork and internships, campus classroom presentations, fund raising, assistance in arranging alumni relations activities, etc.

Nominations will be accepted by individuals submitting names of fellow professionals, or by nominating themself.
